Build the pricing platform mortgage capital markets actually wanted.
Remote-first across the United States. Small team. Serious work. We hire slowly and we mean it.
How we hire
Our process is designed to respect your time. Recruiter screen → hiring- manager interview → take-home with a shared scorecard → 2-3 interviews with the team. We make decisions in 2 weeks from first conversation to offer. Compensation is competitive, transparent inside the company, and negotiable in the standard ways — equity, base, signing.
We do not run multi-round trivia bashes. We do not require timed algorithm tests. We do read your code carefully and ask you to read ours. The bar is high; the process is humane.
Benefits
- Competitive base + meaningful equity
- 100% employer-paid health, dental, vision (employee tier)
- 401(k) with match after 90 days
- Unlimited PTO with a 3-week minimum
- Home-office stipend ($2k initial, $500 annual refresh)
- One annual offsite — most recently in Park City, Utah
Open roles
4 positions, all remote-first.
If your background matches and you're excited about this work, apply. If not, we keep an open file — email careers@ratestack.com with what you'd want to do.
Senior Backend Engineer · Pricing EngineEngineeringRemote (United States)Full-time
Own and evolve the rule engine, the three-tier cache, and the historical-replay pipeline. The pricing engine is the platform's heart — your work is in the critical path of every customer.
What you'll do
- Maintain and extend the rule engine, including new operators and combine strategies as they're justified by customer use cases
- Drive latency optimization with concrete p95/p99 targets and Micrometer-driven instrumentation
- Pair with capital-markets customers on hard pricing edge cases
- Lead the historical-replay roadmap (as-of pricing, ratesheet rollback, audit reproducibility)
Required
- Significant Java backend experience, ideally with Spring Boot 3 and JDK 21+
- Comfortable with MySQL performance tuning, Redis caching, and event-driven architectures
- Production on-call experience
- Track record of writing both fast and explicable code (the pricing trace exists for a reason)
Nice to have
- Mortgage capital-markets domain knowledge
- OpenTelemetry / Micrometer ops experience
- Experience with NATS JetStream or similar JetStream-style brokers
Senior Frontend Engineer · WorkspaceEngineeringRemote (United States)Full-time

What you'll do
- Lead the pricing workspace UX (multi-mode pricing, drill-down, scenario sidebar, trace rendering)
- Own the marketing site as it grows; partner with engineering on every feature page
- Set and defend a performance budget (LCP, CLS, INP) — Lighthouse in CI, regressions blocked
- Mentor on accessibility patterns (WCAG 2.2 AA is the floor)
Required
- Senior-level React / TypeScript / Next.js App Router experience
- Strong opinions on accessibility, defended with code
- Production experience with TanStack Query, modern state patterns, and Tailwind
- Comfort building data-dense UIs (financial workspaces, observability tooling, etc.)
Nice to have
- Experience with server components + RSC streaming patterns at scale
- Background in design systems (we use Tailwind v4 + Radix primitives)
- Mortgage or capital-markets industry background

- Pair with prospects on sandbox setup, ratesheet ingestion tuning, and integration design
- Author RFP / security-questionnaire responses
- Bridge customer pain back to engineering through structured product feedback
Required
- Mortgage capital-markets background — production, secondary, or compliance
- Strong technical fluency — comfortable reading code, running cURL against APIs, debugging webhooks
- Excellent written and verbal communication; you're the technical voice in front of buyers
- Comfort with ambiguity — early-stage means the playbook is partly yours to write
Nice to have
- Prior pricing-engine evaluation experience (buy or sell side)
- MISMO 3.4 / ULAD familiarity
- Experience with both correspondent and broker channels
